WHAT WE BELIEVE

We endorse the Southern Baptist Convention STATEMENT OF FAITH (go to SBC Statement of Faith online to peruse)

(a short summary)

GOD: God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe. He has eternally existed in three persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit: THE TRINITY. These three are co-equal and one God.

HUMAN BEINGS: Human beings are made in the image of God, beginning with Adam, and are the supreme object of God's creation. All are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God, called sin. Sin separates mankind from God and is the cause of problems in this life.

SALVATION: Salvation is God's free gift to all mankind. However we must accept it. Salvation can never be gained apart from Jesus Christ. (John 14:6). Not by self, not by works, not by any self made self-improvements. Only by turning to Jesus Christ by true faith are we saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives the Lord Jesus Christ, Romans 10:13.

SCRIPTURES: The Holy Bible is God's only word to mankind, written by human authors as dictated by God the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the supreme source of truth for every person who will receive it. The Bible is absolutely without error and has salvation of the lost for its end.

EVANGELISM: It is the duty of every Christian to bear fruit. Evangelism is the heartbeat of the church, every member, to constantly seek to win the lost to Jesus Christ by personal effort in harmony with the Scriptures.

ORDINANCES: There are only two scriptural ordinances given to the Church, Baptism by immersion, and the Lord's Supper.

GIVING: We believe in giving the TITHE (ten percent of our gross income, not net income), which is the Biblical standard of giving. According to the Scriptures, we are to give cheerfully, regularly, systematically, proportionally, and liberally for the advancement and cause of Jesus Christ.

THE CHURCH: The church is a body of born-again baptized believers associated by the common faith and fellowship with Jesus Christ. The main business of the Lord's church is to extend the Gospel of Jesus Christ to our community and to the ends of the earth. The church is an autonomous body serving under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Every member is equally responsible (witnessing, tithing, attendance, faithfulness, etc.) along with the Pastor.

UNITY: We believe every member is to live and worship in harmony with each other which is clearly the teaching of the Bible. It is further the responsibility of each member to eschew all gossip, backbiting, and such and to pray for one another.
