Roping and driving cattle requires lots of patience and hard work. Some ranchers found an easier way to deal with getting the livestock to the pens for shipment. They have a "Judas Cow" or lead cow. Not just any cow will do. The Judas cow has to be a leader, and in cattle pecking order, there is always a #1. Leading the judas along and usually all the other cows with a little urging will follow.
It's unknown who coined the term "judas cow" but the term is quite fitting. Judas Iscariot, one of the 12 Apostles, was the one who betrayed Jesus Christ for 30 pieces of silver. Judas was of Satan (John 6:70-71) and was prophesied about in the Psalms (41:19). There has to be a Judas in order for Scripture to be fulfilled. In Acts 1:25, the Bible states, "From which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place," meaning that Judas came from his OWN place and went back to his OWN place, and that place was not Heaven.
The judas cow, for the most part, was used to lead cattle to the pens which ultimately meant to the slaughter house.
There's many judas cows around us today, speaking of men. Men/women who are actively leading the unsuspecting straight to hell. It is utterly amazing to me how that, among men, multitudes are so eager to follow some leader, some disgrunt, some judas cow, rather than righteousness and the TRUTH.
Most every home in America has a Bible, the Word of God Almighty, which is a good thing. The problem is most Bibles collect dust and are not read. It's been said that the person who doesn't read is no better off than the person who cannot read. Following is the Words of Jesus Christ, who is "the Way, the Truth, and the Life..."

Matthew 7:13-14, "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and MANY there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and  few there be that find it."

As a Pastor, I've seen and witnessed more than a few JUDAS COWS lead off a few folks. It never turned out good for the ones lead off. When in doubt, go to the Word. When some judas comes along and tries to plant the seeds of discord and lead you astray, go to the Word. There's been judas's since the beginning starting with the devil himself.
A great verse to memorize and keep is John  10:27, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me..."
