SAVED and SOAKING or SAVED and SERVING?

So many places in the Bible that tell us about things that accompany God's Salvation!

May we consider Ephesians 2:10 where we read these words... "For we His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

Isn't it the greatest thing to be be saved and to know it? I might add that there is nothing, I repeat NOTHING greater in this universe than to be SAVED by the Grace of Almighty God and have a home prepared in Heaven awaiting us? If there is anything greater, would you do this Pastor a favor and let me know?  Someone may say, RICHES, A BIG NAME, MUCH PROPERTY, for instance is greater than salvation. Now, you know and I know that when we pass on, we will leave it all behind. We know that. We came into this world with nothing and when we leave we will take nothing with us, that is, nothing material or physical.

The Bible tells us in Matthew 6:19-24 not to lay up treasures here on earth, but to lay up treasures in Heaven. How do we lay up treasures in Heaven? Did you ever stop to consider that God takes note that even a  drink of cold water given in God's name is noted in Heaven? (Matthew 10:42) How much more then, would God bless the greater works that we all could do, IE: winning souls to Jesus, visiting the sick and shut-ins at the nursing homes, or a 100 other things we could do in the name of Jesus Christ?

Yet 1000's upon 1000's sit on a church pew, hear sermons all about serving the Saviour and leave, doing nothing the week ahead, going back to church Sunday after Sunday hearing more about serving the Saviour, yet doing nothing. Faithful about warming the place in the pew one is accustomed to sitting and that's about all. (and I might add, no one better be in it either!) Being faithful to the church one belongs to IS something, but GOD EXPECTS MORE! If one is truly saved then rightfully so, God has every reason to expect something of every young'un of His. He indeed said so! Re-read Ephesians 2:10 above.

"Saved and soaking, or Saved and serving"

I don't know about you, but I'd rather be on the "serving" side of the things of God. One of my greatest desires is that the people who make up the membership of this  COWBOY CHURCH would also get convicted about serving God instead of just being saved and sitting Sunday after Sunday just SOAKING. I imagine that every pastor would say the same thing! There is a shortage of workers in God's fields that are white unto harvest, matter of fact, there's a greater shortage today than ever!

One more thing. Here at COWBOY CHURCH we have had Bible study on Wednesday nights from the beginning. We have studied over and over about serving God, yet it seems that the time is wasted in many ways. FROM A PASTOR'S STANDPOINT, What good does it do to study about serving God, week after week, month after month, EVER LEARNING yet not many are serving God. Just going through the motions SOAKING but never putting God's Word into practice. What's the use! In the near future instead of sitting around soaking, we will be putting into action some serving. Expected will be a few who will quit coming because something IS expected. Wednesday evenings will be DEVOTED to going about the things of Jesus Christ, things that He expects of us instead of soaking. In the long run and short run, no one will ever be disappointed in serving our God!

Friends and fellow Christians, you can only build treasures in Heaven, NOW, in this life. When this life is over so is building our account in Heaven, the place of the NO MORES.. no more, tears, sorrows, death, etc.

GOD IS GREAT!!!
